LIGHTING THE WAY WITH WORDS

Mr. Chris here, hacking into the Night Light Stories blog! That’s right, this post isn’t from Miss Mel! I secretly snuck onto the blog to leave this post as a surprise anniversary gift! On Saturday, April 3rd, Miss Mel and I will have been married for six years! In honor of that occasion, I wanted to do something special for her as surprise! This Lighting the Way With Words blog post is it! I had a hard time deciding on just one word starting with the letter H to describe this picture. I thought I’d share some of the other words and sentences that were up for consideration. I did two for each year we’ve been married (counting the one above). Leave a comment here or on the Facebook Fan Page letting Miss Mel know which was your favorite! Thanks for sharing our anniversary with us and, to Miss Mel, thanks for every day over the past six years! I couldn’t be happier as your husband!



Happiness - The man felt complete happiness with his arms around his new bride.

Held -The man held the love of his life in his arms.


Honored – The man felt honored to be married to the most beautiful bride in the world.


Humbled – The man was humbled by her beauty.


Husband – The man felt overjoyed when he became her husband.


Handsome – The handsome man enjoyed his wedding day. (hehehe)


History – On this day in history, Mr. Chris and Miss Mel were married.


Hunt – The hunt for the perfect wife was over.


Hope – As the couple began a life together, the future was filled with hope.


Harbor – The couple took a boat across the harbor to the lighthouse to get married.


Honestly – Looking back, the man could honestly say that his decision to marry this woman was one of the best choices of his life.


Highlights – Saying “I do,” was one the highlights of the day.


Hug – As his arms wrapped around her, the man realized this was their first hug as husband and wife.


Miss Mel, as always, I, Mr. Chris, look forward to the many years we can share together!

Episode 19: Mojo and the Ear Mites

Hi All,

Some exciting things are happening in the Night Light Stories household that we want to share with you! Mr. Chris and I were asked to write a series of children's books.  We are thrilled and eager to create a story that you'll get to read in print form! We've already started working on the project and we're really happy with how it is coming together. We're going to have a lot of fun working on the story, but it is also going to take a lot of time and a lot of hard work.  


Unfortunately, that means we're going to have to take a short break from writing for Night Light Stories. Don't worry though, we plan to come back sometime in the Fall with brand new stories!  Also, we're going to keep adding new Lighting the Way With Words each week, as well as occasional updates on our writing project and, who knows, maybe there will be some surprises along the way.   So, please, stay subscribed and tell your friends about Night Light Stories because we're so excited to be able to share this journey.

VORACIOUS VOCABULARY

In our story there are many juicy words that are fun to learn and say. Try to use some of these words in your vocabulary this week at home or in school.

jaunt: a short journey


lurch: a sudden tip or roll to one side


pungent: sharply affecting the organs of smell

JUST ADD IMAGINATION!
Try these activities to keep your imagination glowing after hearing the story.

1. As a family, make a family first aid kit to be kept in an accessible location.  Items could include bandages, gauze, antiseptic cream, anti-itch cream, and other first aid supplies.

2. In order to help keep sickness away, you should wash your hands frequently and thoroughly.  The next time you wash your hands, keep on scrubbing for as long as it takes to sing the Alphabet Song.  

COMPREHENSION CHALLENGE
After listening to the story, can you recall the details to answer these questions?

1. What wakes up Mojo from his nap that is troubling him?

2. Make a list of all the ways Mojo tries to itch and soothe his ears before he sees the doctor.  

3. Why does Mojo's fear build when he is in the car?


4.  How does the doctor make Mojo feel more comfortable?

Spring is on its way! There is going to be a lot of dirt to excavate for all different reasons.  You can excavate dirt to plant seeds in your garden, look for earthworms to go fishing, or make a trench for water to flow where you want it to go.
