We want to send out a special thanks to Mover Dave of the Imagination Movers for recording a bumper for us. Did you know they have a song called “Luck of the Irish” that has a St. Patty’s Day theme as well? It’s sure to get your wee ones up and dancin’ a jig, just like a leprechaun. Speaking of leprechauns, have you ever tried to trap one? If so, send us a picture of your clever trap to nightlightstories@gmail.com or post it on our Facebook page. As you listen to the story, consider the following: “What’s the best way to show someone that you’re listening to them?”
VORACIOUS VOCABULARY
What did you say? A word of the day! In our story there are many
juicy words that are fun to use and say.
interlocking: to lock one with another.
makeshift: a temporary substitute.
teleport: to transport a person or object across a distance instantaneously.
teleport: to transport a person or object across a distance instantaneously.
JUST ADD IMAGINATION!
Try these activities to keep your imagination glowing after hearing the story.
1. Create your own leprechaun trap using things you find around your house.
2. Make a list of all the green things you find in your house.
3. Mr. Chris attempts to speak with an Irish accent in our story. For one meal, have everyone in the family try to speak using an Irish accent.
COMPREHENSION CHALLENGE
After listening to the story, can you recall the details to answer these questions?
1. What are the 3 ways that the leprechauns try to escape from the trap?
2. Why didn't stacking and stepping on the marshmallows work?
3. How do the leprechauns eventually escape from the trap?
4. Who do you think helped the kids build the leprechaun trap?
5. What was the leprechaun trap made out of?
